An ongoing effort to document Tolkien Fandom, this collection consists of brief (up to 3-minute) interviews from fans of English author J. R. R. Tolkien (1892-1973), responding to three general questions: When did you first encounter the works of J. R. R. Tolkien? Why are you a fan? What has he meant to you?

Each interview is available on this site as an audio file accompanied by a pdf text transcription. The interviews may also be downloaded as a data set from Marquettes's e-Publications for digital analysis.

The collection’s goal is 6,000 interviews, one for each Rider of Rohan that King Théoden led to the aid of Gondor in The Lord of the Rings.

If you self-identify as a Tolkien fan, please consider joining the Muster!
